The Basics Of Hosting (Hot Keys & Game Notes)
 
 
We play 2 player in Intermediate Fried Green Tomatoes
and 4 player (Doubles) in Beginner Blue Moon
 

HOSTING BASICS

 
We appreciate all our Hosts and the Great Jobs you do as represenatives for the CANASTA FREAKS.  We do ask you not to HOST for any other league so that your focus can be on the needs and growth of the Canasta Freaks.
 
1. When you are a host for the FREAKS you must have Yahoo Instant Messenger in order to be available during games and to participate in TD meetings.
   
2. We spam Yahoo members once, 30 minutes before the beginning of our tournaments, including the link to the tourney. About 5 minutes before the beginning of the tour, we may spam again if we have fewer than 4 players registered. Some members only have AOL messenger, and spamming those members on your list in AIM is encouraged, following the same guidelines. We do not spam instant messengers for other hosts.

Be in the room, either FRIED GREEN TOMATOES or BLUE MOON at least 30 minutes before your tourney begins.

   
4. Always ask the current hosts before putting your host badge on and spamming your tournament in the room. Never enter a room with your badge already on. Also, the spam in the room needs the tourney or "jump" number, but the link is not needed.
   
5. To the best of our abilities, our games start on time. We do not force registered players to wait for someone to register unless there is a special circumstance, such as a host's error in deleting a player
   
6. We do not remove members from tourneys if they are not there UNLESS they ask us to in advance. If possible, note players of ongoing tourneys, but removing them is not the host's responsibility.
   
7. When preparing to host, please check the calendar for the information on the next upcoming tourney and spam it in the room during the first 30 minutes of your game. Once the next host is in the room, responsibility for informing Freaks of upcoming tourneys shifts to the host of that game, so do not duplicate spam.  If next tourney host does not present themselves in lobby by 30 after the hour, it is the responsibility of the sitting host, to see that and HTD or ADMIN receive notice, so that the no show hosts tourney may be moved out and another host has time to prepare to set in the slot.
   
8. Remember to type "brb" when not looking at computer while hosting, and if possible, ask another host to watch the lobby for you.
   
9. When members report in lobby they are to BOTH report with TD's name first. For example, if Art is hosting a tourney and DV and Laugh are playing and DV wins then both would report Art****
DV///Laugh . Both players need to report, to be sure they are in agreement. When the lobby is busy, the manner of reporting is important to avoid missed reports.
   
10. Please do not run WTG or So Sorry spams until both players have posted results of the game.
   
11. If you are hosting the final rounds of a tourney, and your skill and experience allow, you may join the next tourney. However, when you are hosting, your tournament takes priority over any other game you are playing. If you need to leave a game to take care of something in your tournament you must ask the host to put you on the timer for the game/ tour. Extension limits also count. Do not ask your opponent for extra extensions because you are also hosting.
   
12. If at any time members are rude please take screen shots and forward them to both Artingpogo and Laugh13331. If you feel a host is acting inappropriately, please take screen shots and forward to both Artingpogo and Boomboom3811. Do not take it upon yourself to IM them or say anything in lobby. If immediate action is needed, please contact the HTD or Admin covering that time, or available on IM, calling if necessary.
   
13.  If a member DQ'S (disqualify) during a game, we are NOT to allow them to restart regardless of which round.the dq occured.  If a new member DQ's be sympathetic to them, and explain that our rules are on our tourney pages, and that they are also run in our lobby with the opportunity to ask questions if they do not understand something.  If there is a dispute and you can not judge which member is correct, you may ask them to play one more hand and the high score will take the win.  The reason we do not allow players to start over is because it will delay the flow of the tourmey for all who have jumped and hinder upcoming tourneys starting on time.

Part Of Being A Htd Is To Train New Tds And Help Those New Tds In A Friendly Manner And Make Them Feel They Are Appreciated And That We All Make Mistakes But We The Htds And Administrators Are Here To Help Fix Mistakes, Not To Pick On The Mistakes We Make. Always Use Yahoo Messenger To Not Embarrass Them In Lobby.
 
 
 
All New Tds Are To Host at least 2 Tours With Reg Rules To 2500 2/2 In Fgt No Exceptions. Your trainer MAY  deem you are ready and  allow you to set any rules you are comfortable with from the 10 game option list in your basic training keys.
 
We Are Not To Set  20 Minutes Or 40 Minutes Rounds.  We Are To Set All Tours 30 Minutes (but allow players to play for 40 minutes), And Set All Tours 8 Rounds.  The rounds will Adjust themselves When Tour Is Closed Depending on the number of players. The Only Exception Is True Swiss.   Regardless If  it Is Tossed To The Curb Or Double Elim, all Tours Will adjust Just Fine.

All Tds Are To Be Trained To Host In Blue Moon Tours When They Complete 10 Tours In Fgt, Again If They Have The Experience for 4 player tourneys, you may run on your 11th in Blue Moon.
 
After Completing All The Above and after completing 20 tours in FGT hosts Can Be Trained By  BLUE, EEYORE or ART to host Swiss And Double Elimination Tours. If Anyone Else Wants To Help train for swiss or d/e Please Contact EEYORE or ART First
 
We Also Have Round Robin Format And Teams In Fgt.  If any host wishes to learn how to run these games please ask DV or Art.
 
Art Is  Usually On Late At Nights From 10 Pm Till 2 AM.  BLUE and EEYORE are also anight owl and can be contacted by IM or email.

When And How To Set Particular Tours

1.  We Are Not To Set The Same Tour From 7 Am To 5 Pm, Nor From 6 Pm To 1
Am.  Do Not Set Same Rules Back To Back At Any Time Including (5-6 Pm)  Use
Common Sense.

2.  All Regular Tours Are To Have A 50 Bux Entry Fee. This Includes 1
Hand, 2 Hands, Minus 1000, 1500 Games And All 2500 & 5000 Games.

3.  All True Swiss D/E Tours That Are Set Either 2500 Or 5000 Are To Have
A 75 Bux Entry Fee And All Reg Swiss And D/E Tours That Are 1 Hand Hi Games
Are To Have A 50 Bux Entry Fee.

4.  All Toss To The Curb  Are To Have A 20 Bux Entry Fee And We Are Only
Allowed To Set This Series 1 Time Per Week, Per Td.

5.  All Special Tours, (Ie. Series) Are To Have A 100 Bux Entry Fee And
The Toc Is To Have A 150 Bux Entry Fee. ***Special Tours Are To Have A Minimum
1000 Buxx Donation.***

6.  All 1 Hand Hi Games (S/E, D/E, Or Swiss) Are To Have A 20 Minute Game
Time. There is No Longer A 40 Minute Limit On These!

7.  We Are Not To Set More Then Two 1 Hand High Games Per Week, Per Td
Whether They Are Swiss D/E Or S/E. (Toss To The Curb Not Included)

8.  We Are Only Allowed To Set Toss To The Curb 1 Time Per Day, Per Block
Of Hours. For Example: 1 Tossed Between 7 And 5 And 1 Tossed Between 6 And 1.
No More Than 1 Tossed Series Set Per Td Per Week.

9.  If There Are 4 Series Of Toss To The Curb Set In Either Block Of
Hours, (7am To 5pm) Or (6pm To 1am) You Are Not Allowed To Set Another 4
Series But You Can Set Same Rules With Double Elim Or True Swiss With A
Minimum Of 4 Rounds, Reg Swiss Is Not Allowed With Toss To The Curb.

10. We Are Not To Set One Hand Games Or 2500 Games From 6 Pm To 1 Am
Unless We Have A Special Event Coming Up.  Please Set A 2500 Game Or A 2 Hands
Game Before Special Events Such As B Day Bashes, Toc, Battles Etc.   It Is Ok
To Set One Hand Reg Swiss Before A Special Event  As We Would Like All
Available Jumpers For The Special Tour.

11. We Consider All Full Games The Games That Read -1000, 1500 And 2 Hands
Games So Those Are Ok To Be Set Between 6 Pm To 1 Am, Just Remember Not To Set
Those Back To Back.  Freaks  Prefer 5000 Games Over Any Other Games.  We Are
To Please Our Members, So Lets Set What Makes Them Happy And Keep Them Playing
Here.

12. We Are Not To Set  'Just Call Me Nuts' Or The '1500 Games'  Before A
Special Event As Those Take Longer Than An Hour To Complete.  We Want Games To
Finish Within An Hour So Our Members Can Jump Our Special Events.

NOT HOSTING (AS OF February 22ND)

 

Hosts Will No Longer Be Put On Vacation Status For Not Hosting. After 20 Days They Will Be Sent An Email From ART or LAUGH Requesting Reasons For Not Hosting. Without Response Or A Good Explanation They Will Be Given 30 Days To Return And Start Hosting Again.. Failure To Do So Will Be Removal From Hosting Duties.   If A New Trainee Has Not Hosted A Tourney Within 30 Days Of Their Being Approved, They Will Be Dropped From Hosting Rooster.

 
SETTING TOURNAMENTS
 
Please do not ask another host to move his/her tournament so you can host at that time. Slots are on a first come first serve basis with exception of some weekly and monthly specials. We are limited to 2 tourneys "back-to-back" each day, until 24 hours before the time slot, at which time we may fill-in as many as we wish.
 
During times of full calendars, expectations on numbers of tours set are relaxed. However, please remember the agreements you made when you accepted your position. (minimums - TDs 3/wk, HTDs 5/wk.
 
If you are unable to host a scheduled tourney on the day it is set IT MUST BE DELETED, NOT MOVED.  Please make note of any jumpers, DO NOT REMOVE THEIR NAMES because an email will automatically be sent to them informing them of the move and and their tourney buxx will be returned to their account.  Deleting host is then to send email to all staff, so that another host may set in the slot.  Please do this ASAP so that we keep our calendar full.  Also, advise in your emil the names of the people who had jumped your deleted tourney so that the new host can try to notify them to rejump.   Hosts who repeatedly cannot host the tourneys they have set, removing them the same day, or day before the tour are subject to disciplinary action.
 

We Don't Move Tour To A Later Date. For No Show Tds, Or If You do not Have Enough Jumpers. We DELETE All Of Them.  Do not remove the jumpers  They Will Receive An Email As To Why The Tour Was Deleted.

 
CASES TD GUIDE
  
 Is There Any Penalty For Deleting A Tournament? No. If There Is An Issue With Your Tournament, Such As The Letterbox Or Ladderstats Settings Being Created Incorrectly, Or If You Simply Do Not Have Enough Players To Start The Tournament, It Is Best To Delete The Tournament Instead Of Moving It. Moving A Tournament Can Occasionally Cause Our Security Software To Register A False Positive And Stop A Tournament From Running. This Is Why We Recommend Deleting Tournaments, Rather Than Moving Them
 
Please remember to put the game rules for the tournament on the tourney page. . Please refer to the Games Rules Page and comply with the rules set by the league.
 
Special 4 Player Blue Moon Rules
 
We host 4 player doubles on the even hour in Blue Moon. We do not set on the half hour in BM. Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 5 PM on ward are set in BM.   We set BM on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays per month from 5 PM onward and  Every ODD Sunday from 5 PM onward.   We do not set both rooms at the same time.

 

JUMPING NEXT 4 PLAYER TOURNEY:  IF you are in an ongoing tourney you May jump in the next tourney If you are in the final round.  You will be allowed a 5 minute timer to join the next tourney if you are still playing in prior tourney.  If you cannot join and play before the 5 minute timer expires you will be disqualifed.  IF you jump the upcoming tourney, and are still in prior tourney playing in any other round than the final round, you will be AUTOMATICALLY disqualifed  when that tourney is closed.  Try to withdraw before this tourney  closes....it is NOT the hosts responsibility to remove you but will if made aware that you are still in previous tourney.

 
 
SUBBING RULES : If a player's partner is missing the team must be put on timer. At this time you may help them look for a sub. Subs are not allowed if the partner is in the room (responding, not frozen, or playing at another table). The 5 min timer applies if the partner is playing in a game. Subs cannot be players in a tour that is still in progress.
 
Any Game that request 3 or more canastas must be played to 5000 except in double elims the bottom bracket  maybe 2500.
